Not every shop needs double side chamfering. If you’re only finishing one end of the tube — or if you’re doing different operations on each end at different stages — a single side pipe chamfering machine is the simpler and more economical solution. The DuralBend Bora B1 series is a single-head pipe end chamfering machine that does inside chamfering, outside chamfering and facing on one end per cycle. Load the tube, clamp it, chamfer, done.
The “B1” in the name refers to the single chamfering head — the same naming logic as our Bora B2, which has two heads for double-side work. We offer four models in the Bora B1 range, covering tube diameters from Ø20 mm all the way up to Ø140 mm. The newest addition is the B1-140, which extends the range into territory that most single side tube chamfering machines on the market do not reach.
The Lineup
- Bora B1-60 — Ø20–60 mm, 1.5 kW motor. The compact pipe chamfering machine for standard tube sizes. Furniture, automotive, general fabrication.
- Bora B1-80 — Ø20–80 mm, 1.5 kW motor. Same power as the B1-60 but handles larger tubes. Covers most industrial applications as a workshop tube chamfering machine.
- Bora B1-115 — Ø20–115 mm, 2.2 kW motor. A bigger motor, because at this diameter you need more torque for a clean chamfer, especially on steel.
- Bora B1-140 — Ø20–140 mm, our newest model. For heavy structural tube and large diameter pipe work. If you’re in shipbuilding, heavy construction or large scale industrial fabrication and need single end chamfering at this size, this is it.
How They Work
The same two-step process as our double side machines. A fast approach first to save time, then a slower adjustable chamfering speed for the finish. You can set different spindle speeds for different materials — slower for stainless, faster for aluminium. Inverter control is available as an option on all B1 models, giving you stepless speed adjustment from the touchscreen instead of changing pulleys manually. (On the Bora B2 double side machines, inverter control is fitted as standard.)
The machine is PLC controlled with a touchscreen, multi-language interface, auto and manual modes and foot pedal operation. Interchangeable grips let you switch between tube sizes quickly. There is a safety cover over the cutting area, and the error messages are in plain language so your operators do not need to look up codes in a manual. Works with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper — tube and solid bar.
One Clamp-Up, Three Operations
The B1 is not only a chamfering machine. In the same clamp-up it faces the tube end square, cuts the inside chamfer and cuts the outside chamfer — three operations, one setup, one handling step. That is the reason to buy it rather than a plain chamfer tool: a shop that previously ran tube ends across a face mill and then across a separate chamfering station removes an entire operation, an entire transfer and an entire opportunity to scratch or mis-position the part.
Where it sits in the line is straightforward. Tubes are cut to length first, then transferred to the B1 for end finishing before bending or welding. Cleanly faced and chamfered ends make mandrel insertion easier on the bending machine and give you a better weld preparation afterwards. If it helps, we can specify the whole cell — cutting equipment through to end finishing — rather than just the chamfering machine on its own.
Single Side vs Double Side
The Bora B1 single side machines cost less than the B2 double side models and they are more compact. If you only need one end chamfered, or if your production flow has chamfering at different stages for each end, the B1 makes more sense. If you always need both ends done and want it in one cycle, go with the Bora B2. We can help you work out which setup suits your specific workflow.
