If you’re cutting tubes to length before bending or welding, the cut ends need chamfering. Burrs, sharp edges, uneven faces — all of that causes problems downstream. Bad tube ends mean bad welds, difficult mandrel insertion on bending machines, and safety issues for operators handling the parts. A double-head pipe chamfering machine does both ends in one cycle, which is about twice as fast as running each tube through a single side tube chamfering machine.
The DuralBend Bora B2 series handles inside chamfering, outside chamfering and facing on both ends of the tube simultaneously. Mild steel, stainless, aluminium, copper — the machine works with all of them. The “B2” in the name refers to the two chamfering heads, one for each end of the tube, and two models are available depending on your pipe diameter range.
Two Models
- Bora B2-60 — handles tubes from Ø20 mm to Ø60 mm. Full electric, servo controlled feeding, inverter controlled spindle speed, 7.4 kW motor power. This is the pipe chamfering machine most of our customers go with, because the 20–60 mm range covers the majority of standard tube sizes used in furniture, automotive, HVAC and general fabrication.
- Bora B2-80 — the same machine concept extended to Ø80 mm. Motor power goes up to 11 kW to handle the larger diameters. If you’re working with structural tube or heavy wall pipe in the 60–80 mm range, this is the tube chamfering machine you need.
How It Works
The chamfering process runs in two steps. First a fast approach — the spindle moves in quickly to save cycle time. Then it switches to a slower, adjustable chamfering speed for the actual cut, which gives you a smooth finish. Both speeds are inverter controlled as standard, so you can tune them for different materials. Stainless needs a slower speed than mild steel, for example, and with the inverter you just dial it in on the touchscreen.
The grips are interchangeable for different tube sizes, so switching between jobs on the pipe end chamfering machine is quick. The machine is PLC and HMI controlled with a touchscreen interface, multi-language support and auto/manual mode. There is a safety cover over the cutting area — one of those things that should be obvious, but a surprising number of machines on the market do not have it.
Facing and Chamfering in One Operation
Both Bora B2 models work as a facing and chamfering machine: face finishing, inside chamfer and outside chamfer in a single setup, on both ends of the tube at the same time. For shops that previously ran tubes through a separate facing operation and then a separate chamfering operation, this collapses two steps into one. Cycle time drops, handling drops, scrap drops.
If you also need to cut tubes to length, the Bora B2 fits into a cut-then-chamfer cell: cut first, then transfer to the Bora B2 for double-side chamfering. We can quote both together as a production cell if that is useful.
Automatic Feeding Option
We also offer automatic tube feeding as an optional add-on. If you’re running high volumes and want to reduce operator involvement even further, the auto feeder loads tubes into the chamfering machine continuously. It is not standard, but it is available if you need it.
Why Fully Electric
Both Bora B2 models are fully electric — no hydraulics. Cleaner operation, less maintenance, lower energy consumption. The chamfering blade and die quality is something we have spent a lot of time developing and it shows in the finish: clean chamfers, consistent results, long tool life.
Single Side or Double Side?
If you always need both tube ends finished and want it done in one cycle, the B2 is the right machine. If you only ever chamfer one end, or your production flow finishes each end at a different stage, the more compact and lower cost Bora B1 single side range makes more sense.
